IV Sedation

What is IV Sedation?

Are you nervous to have your dental procedure done? IV sedation can make the procedure seamless and comfortable. IV sedation is given through a vein and is also known as being put to “sleep” or twilight sedation.

Reasons for IV Sedation

  • Severe Dental Anxiety/Phobia: Helps patients who have intense fear or anxiety regarding dental procedures, allowing them to remain calm.

  • Complex or Lengthy Procedures: Ideal for wisdom tooth extraction, dental implants, bone grafting, or multiple procedures done at once.

  • Strong Gag Reflex: Effectively manages a sensitive gag reflex.

  • High Fear/Low Pain Threshold: Patients with low pain tolerance or difficulty staying still for long periods.

Local Anesthesia in Oral Surgery

How It Works

Local anesthetics are injected near the nerves that supply sensation to the surgical site. They temporarily block nerve impulses, preventing pain signals from reaching the brain. The patient stays awake and can respond to the surgeon’s instructions.

Procedures

Used for all procedures to numb the surgical location to prevent patient pain. We have a long acting local anesthesia that can last for several hours that you can request if you would like this additional local anesthesia.
